To locate an ideal webmaster is tricky. I would suggest you ask owners of websites you like for the contact information of their WebMasters. Otherwise ask people you know to recommend WebMasters. Whenever you interview WebMasters you need to have at least 3 samples of websites that you like. Also ask the WebMaster for sites that he already created as well as the contact information to the owners of three of his websites that you like.

Then find out what they liked or didn't like about the experience they had with him and would they recommend him to anyone.

Becoming a WebMaster:
Well it isn't too hard to become a WebMaster for your own projects... all it takes is a few hours each week for about 3 to 6 months to be able to effectively help yourself. If you plan to help friends and family you would need to double the time spent learning.

If you plan to get a job or sell your services it's best to take a few courses. What I usually do is teach myself the basics, then take a few advanced classes to learn the tricks of the trade. No doubt about it you can make decent income providing WebMaster service to others, even though the market is saturated... all you need is a good niche and you're good to go.
